France Beat Portugal on Penalties to Reach Euro 2024 Semi-Finals
Portugal Knocked Out After Joao Felix Misses in Shootout
France edged into into the semifinals of Euro 2024 after beating Portugal 5-3 in a penalty shootout after the game finished 0-0 on Friday.
Portugal had the better chances in the game, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Joao Felix had the best chance of the game in the second half, but he fired wide from close range.
In the shootout, France goalkeeper Mike Maignan saved the first two Portuguese penalties, giving his team the advantage. Kylian Mbappé then scored the winning penalty to send France through to the semi-finals.
France will play Spain in the semi-finals on Tuesday, July 9th.
Portugal will be disappointed to be knocked out of the tournament, but they can be proud of their performance. They played well against a strong French team and were unlucky not to win the game.
France will be confident of beating Spain in the semi-finals. They have a strong team and have been in good form throughout the tournament.
