North Carolina's Democratic Party Chair Blasts Trump, Praises Biden and Harris

Erica Smith says Trump is 'dangerous' and 'unfit' to lead, while Biden and Harris are 'qualified' and 'ready to lead'

Smith: 'Trump is a clear and present danger to our democracy'

RALEIGH, N.C. — The chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party blasted President Donald Trump on Tuesday, calling him "dangerous" and "unfit" to lead, while praising Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris as "qualified" and "ready to lead."

Erica Smith, who is also a member of the Democratic National Committee, made the comments at a press conference in Raleigh. She said that Trump's handling of the COVID-19 pandemic has been "a disaster" and that he has "failed to lead" on other important issues facing the country.

"Trump is a clear and present danger to our democracy," Smith said. "He has shown time and time again that he is not fit to be president. He is a danger to our national security, our economy, and our way of life."

Smith praised Biden and Harris, saying that they are "qualified" and "ready to lead" the country.

"Joe Biden has the experience and the temperament to be president," Smith said. "He is a unifier who will bring people together to solve the challenges facing our country.

"Kamala Harris is a brilliant and experienced leader who will be a strong advocate for the people of this country," Smith added. "She is a role model for women and girls everywhere."

Smith urged North Carolinians to vote for Biden and Harris in November.

"This is the most important election of our lifetime," Smith said. "We need to elect leaders who will fight for us and who will put the needs of the people first. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are those leaders."
