Conditional sentences are a grammar structure used to express a relationship between two events or situations, with the outcome of one event depending on the other. These sentences consist of two clauses: the 'if' clause and the 'main' clause. The "if" clause states the condition, and the main clause states the result.
There are four main types of conditional sentences, each with its unique structure and usage:
Zero conditional
The zero conditional is used to express a general truth or a fact that is always true. The 'if' clause in the zero conditional is usually in the present simple tense, and the main clause is also in the present simple tense.
Example:
If you heat water to 100 degrees Celsius, it boils.
First conditional
The first conditional is used to express a possible or probable event or action. The 'if' clause in the first conditional is usually in the present simple tense, and the main clause is usually in the future simple tense.
Example:
If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
Second conditional
The second conditional is used to express an unlikely or impossible event or action. The 'if' clause in the second conditional is usually in the past simple tense, and the main clause is usually in the would + infinitive form.
Example:

Third conditional
